There was a total of 2,482,557 vehicles under current licence in 2013, of which 1,910,165 were private cars.
Of the 1,910,165 private cars under licence, 71,348 were new cars licensed for the first time in 2013.
More than half (52%) of new private cars licensed for the first time in 2013 had an engine capacity of between 1501 and 2000cc while 93% were in either the A or B CO₂ emission bands.
