In 2013, a total of 11,940 trading vessels (of 100 gross tonnes or more) arrived in Irish ports.

In total, 46.7 million tonnes of goods were handled by Irish ports, of which, 31.4 million tonnes of goods were unloaded and 15.3 million tonnes were loaded.
Dublin port was the busiest port, handling more than two-fifths (42.5%) of all goods in 2013.
In 2013, the busiest ferry route was the Dublin - Holyhead route (same as two previous years), which accounted for 57% of all passengers on scheduled ferry services.
