On the expenditure side of the accounts (Table 3.5), Capital Investment decreased by €1.8 billion in Q1 compared with the previous quarter and accounted for 37.2% of total domestic demand in Q1 2023.
Personal Consumption Expenditure grew by 0.1% in Q1 2023 compared to Q4 2022, while Government expenditure decreased by 4.9% over the same period. There was an overall decrease in real GDP of 2.8%.

On the expenditure side of the accounts (Table 3.3), Capital Investment increased by 11.2%. Personal Consumption showed an increase of 5.1% while Government expenditure fell by 2.7% over the same period. Exports of Goods and Services increased by 5.7% (or €8.7 billion) in Q1 2023 compared with the same quarter of 2022. Imports of Goods and Services grew by 10.9% (or €11.1 billion) over the same period. Net Exports therefore decreased by 5.0% (or €2.4 billion) over the period year-on-year.
