The information you give us means we can create a very accurate picture of Ireland, our lives, our economy, our health and our happiness. This helps to plan for everyone’s future in Ireland.
If you are asked, please take part in a CSO household survey because your voice matters.
The CSO has a team of about 130 permanent survey interviewers working around the country collecting data every week for household surveys such as the Labour Force Survey (LFS), the Household Budget Survey (HBS), and the Survey on Income and Living Conditions (SILC).
In addition to these interviewers, the CSO has a team of 75 survey interviewers collecting data for the Growing Up in Ireland (GUI) Survey who are calling to selected households that have a nine-month-old baby.
The CSO interviewers survey about 3,400 households nationwide every week, and your help enables the CSO to measure our country’s progress on important social and economic issues such as employment, poverty, childcare, health, and crime.

Being a survey interviewer for the CSO is a rewarding, social and flexible role. A CSO Interviewer is the main contact person for several households taking part in CSO surveys, explaining the purpose and importance of the data being collected and how it is used across all localities and areas of society.
Survey Interviewers are a valuable part of the CSO Household Surveys team, key to recording vital information about the economic and social situation of real people in Ireland. With the help of Survey Interviewers, the CSO tells the true and accurate picture of life in Ireland. Learn more about the role of a CSO Survey Interviewer in this video.
If you are interested in becoming a Survey Interviewer with the CSO, please visit our Careers page.
That’s easy: All CSO field staff working on household surveys carry a CSO identity card with their picture and name on it.
