Our statistics about Ireland are independent and reliable, because you told us.
The information you give us lets us create a very accurate picture of what it means to live in Ireland today - our lives, our economy, our health, our education, our happiness and well-being.
The Environment Survey gathers information on how households across Ireland interact with the environment, particularly in relation to energy use in the home and time spent outdoors in green and natural spaces. It is a voluntary survey carried out under Section 24 of the Statistics Act, 1993.
In this survey, by green and natural spaces we mean 'green' outdoor spaces in cities and towns such as parks and canals and those in the countryside such as mountains, forests, or farmlands. Spaces near water such as lakes, reservoirs, rivers, and the sea are also included here. We want to collect information about your visits to these spaces, and the benefit of time in these spaces to your well-being.
The survey covers a few topics in different sections:
This nationwide survey of households gives us an accurate picture of how important the environment is to households and how energy is consumed by households.
The statistics we produce are used by people, businesses, local authorities and national government to make policy decisions and to plan for our futures.
