The CSO, today, Wednesday 20th February 2019, launched the Gender Balance in Business Survey. The survey is being conducted for the first time and will provide benchmark statistics on gender representation in senior executive teams and boards of directors.
The survey has been issued to large enterprises (i.e. those with over 250 employees) and is supported by the Balance for Better Business initiative launched by the Government in the summer of 2018.
The CSO has discussed and designed the survey in conjunction with stakeholders and finalised on an electronic questionnaire that is clear, concise and places minimum burden on enterprises.
It is planned to carry out the survey on a biennial basis going forward to provide a time series of the breakdown of career progression across both sexes as well as the progress in achieving a gender balance amongst senior executive teams and boards of directors.
Results from the 2019 survey will be published in Quarter 2 of 2019, with breakdowns of the number of men and women in senior executive positions and on company boards as well as detailed breakdowns by business sector and length of service.
