The Central Statistics Office (CSO) began publishing a Deaths and Cases bulletin on 22 May 2020 in response to the need to look for trends behind the daily COVID-19 cases figures. The series was typically published every fortnight but increased to weekly bulletins when cases and deaths were at their highest points.
The CSO use Computerised Infectious Disease Reporting (CIDR) data provided by Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) to produce the COVID-19 Deaths and Cases bulletin series.
The dataflow has been disrupted since the cyberattack on the HSE.
However, the CIDR surveillance system is now working again post the cyberattack and full reporting from CIDR will be restored as soon as possible.
