This indicator refers to the extent to which persons aged 16 years and over feel lonely some, most, or all of the time.

Each respondent aged 16 and over was asked how often, in the four-week period preceding their interview, they felt 'lonely'.  The responses were given on a 5-point scale, with answers ranging from ‘none of the time’ to ‘all of the time’.
