Wholesale electricity prices were 36.6% lower than in October 2021 and were down by 52.0% since September 2022.
Domestic producer prices for manufactured goods were on average 10.3% higher in October 2022 compared with a year earlier, while producer prices for exported goods increased by 7.7%.
Producer prices for food products rose by 9.4% in the 12 months to October 2022, while the Food Products, Beverages & Tobacco index saw an increase of 9.5%.
Some of the most notable changes in producer prices for food products over the 12 months to October 2022 were: Dairy Products (+50.7%), Fish & Fish Products (+20.5%), Fruit & Vegetables (+15.9%) and Grain Milling, Starches & Animal Feeds (+14.1%).
The most notable changes in other producer prices in the year were: Wood & Wood Products (+30.1%), Other Non-Metallic Mineral Products (such as glass, ceramics, cement, concrete and stone) (+18.1%), Beverages (+13.4%) and Rubber & Plastic Products (+13.0%).
Wholesale prices for construction products increased by 1.3% in the month and rose by 16.1% in the 12 months since October 2021.

The Building and Construction index (i.e. Materials and Wages) increased by 0.8% in the month and by 9.9% in the 12 months to October 2022. This index combines the All Materials Index with a measure of the change in wages in the construction sector to provide an overall index for input construction costs. See Table 4.
There was a decrease in the price of wholesale electricity in October 2022 with prices 52.0% lower than the previous month. The price of electricity was 36.6% lower than in October 2021. The overall Energy Products Index decreased by 45.5% since September 2022 and by 28.8% when compared with October 2021. See Table 5.

Statistician's Comment
Commenting on the release, Jillian Delaney, Statistician in the Prices Division, said: ''Wholesale electricity prices dropped by 52% in October 2022. This comes after a previous large monthly drop of 26.9% in September. Electricity costs on the wholesale market are now lower than any time during the past 12 months, and 36.6% lower than in October 2021. The last time that prices were lower than the current rate was in August 2021. See Table 5.
Producer prices in several food categories were significantly higher in October 2022 compared with the same month last year. Outputs from Irish manufacturers also increased in price in several other categories. See Table 2.
Manufacturing factory gate prices rose by 8.0% in the 12 months to October 2022, compared with an increase of 6.1% in the 12 months to September 2022. There was an increase in manufacturing factory gate prices of 2.0% between September 2022 and October 2022, compared with an increase of 0.2% for the same period last year. See Table 1 and Figure 1.
In the 12 months to October 2022 there was a rise of 10.3% in the price index for home sales, and an increase of 7.7% in the price index for export sales, which can be influenced by currency fluctuations. In the month, the price index for export sales was up 2.1%, while the index for home sales was up by 1.0%. See Table 2 and Figure 2.
The All Materials Index for construction products rose by 1.3% in the month and by 16.1% in the year. See Table 3.''
