Audio 1 – Trust in Gardaí:
Approximately seven in ten respondents reported trusting the Gardaí.
And around nine in ten respondents believed that a lost wallet or purse containing €100 and their identity details would be returned if it was found by the Gardaí.
Audio 2 – Highest levels of trust:
When it comes to trust, our findings show that the highest levels of trust were in people when compared to other institutions such as political parties, the civil service, or the news media. More than eight in ten respondents reported that they trusted most people.
Trust in political parties had the lowest levels of trust with one in four respondents reporting that they trusted political parties.
Audio 3 – Trust in Government:
41% of respondents trusted their local authority, 47% of respondents reported they trusted their national government and 49% of respondents reported trusting the Oireachtas.
