This publication has been compiled during the COVID-19 crisis. The results contained in this publication reflect some of the impacts of the COVID-19 situation.

Main results

  • A total of 19.5 million passengers travelled on the Luas and 17.4 million passengers travelled by rail in 2021.
  • Iarnród Éireann carried 415,000 tonnes of freight in 2021. This was a decrease of 34,000 tonnes (-8%) compared to 2020.
  • The largest number of journeys by users of the bicycle sharing scheme in Dublin in 2021 was in the month of October when 159,982 journeys were made.
