Ireland imported over 111 million litres of wine in 2020, an increase of 44% on the 2015 level of imports of 77 million litres. The total value of wine imports in 2020 was €346 million, and over two-thirds of total wine imports came from five countries.

The largest partner country was France, with €61 million imports of wine imports, followed by Chile with €58 million of wine imports. While the value of imports from France only exceeded that of Chile by less than €3 million, there were 19.5 million litres of wine imported from Chile, compared with 14 million litres from France.

Exports of beer in 2020 were valued at €255 million, which in volume terms was 444 million litres of beer. The main export market was the UK, with 309 million litres of beer exported, which is 70% of the total volume exported in 2020.

In 2020, Ireland imported 335 million litres of beer at a value of €250 million, of which 198 million litres, or €150 million came from the UK, also our largest import partner. This is over four times the volume of the second biggest import partner, the Netherlands from which we imported 48 million litres.
