Traffic count data slightly below 2019 figures

Traffic count data remained slightly below 2019 figures

Car traffic count data remained slightly below 2019 figures (pre-COVID-19) . For the last week in November 2022 (week 47), car traffic volumes in Dublin were 5% lower than the same week in 2019. For regional traffic, a similar pattern occurred, with the value for week 47 7% lower than the same week in 2019.  See figure 1.1 and figure 1.2.

HGV traffic count data were up on 2019 and 2021 values, with Dublin showing a 6% increase for the week beginning 21 November 2022 (week 47) versus the same week in 2019. The regional data showed a 6% increase for the same period. See figure 1.3 and figure 1.4.

Please note that the timing of holidays and bank holidays can impact on the yearly comparison of traffic count data.
