- Large enterprises with more than 250 employees made up €72bn (53%) of total service exports (€135bn) in 2016.
- Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with less than 250 employees, together accounted for €36bn (26%) of total exports while small enterprises made up €22bn (17%) of the total.
- The remaining 20% of service exports (€27bn) consisted of enterprises of unknown size (which represented quarterly estimates as well as travel, some financial and government services).
- Large enterprises made up €148bn (74%) of total service imports (€199bn) in 2016.
- SMEs accounted for €27bn (13%) of total imports while small enterprises made up €20bn (10%) of the service imports total.
- The remaining 12% of service imports (€24bn) consisted of enterprises of unknown size.
