The local government sector (S.1313) comprises local authorities, Regional Assemblies and a number of Approved Housing Bodies.

An annual survey of all local authorities is conducted jointly by the CSO and the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.

This survey updates entity listings and also obtains extra information required to establish the statistical classifications of all bodies under the aegis of local authorities. The following tables lists the entities under the aegis of local authorities. The statistical classification process is outlined in the Background Notes.

Figure 1.1 in the Public Sector chapter displays a breakdown of the Register by subsector.

A complete list of the Register is available on the Register of Public Sector Bodies 2023 - Final Table 1.1 (XLS 53KB) .

A CSV file is also available on the Register of Public Sector Bodies 2023 - Final Table 1.1 csv file .
