Export intensity measures the proportion of an enterprise's turnover which is exported. It is an indicator of how dependent enterprises are on international trade to sell their goods.
In 2022, enterprises who exported more than 75% of their total turnover accounted for over €157 billion of exports. There were 1,222 enterprises in this category.
Over half of enterprises have low export intensity, indicating that they are selling most of their goods in the domestic market.
There were 6,769 enterprises who exported between 1 and 24% of their total turnover in 2022, amounting to €7.7 billion.
