Domestic Milk Intake by creameries and pasteurisers was estimated at 785.4 million litres for September 2022. This represents a 1.1% increase when compared with September 2021.
Domestic Milk Intake for the period January to September 2022 was estimated at 7,364.7 million litres, a decrease of 19.7 million litres (-0.3%) when compared with the corresponding period for 2021.
Fat content increased from 4.43% in September 2021 to 4.52% in September 2022. Protein content also increased from 3.73% to 3.75% over the same period.
Skim Milk Powder increased by 20.7% from 11,100 tonnes in September 2021 to 13,400 tonnes in September 2022.
Butter production decreased from 26,500 tonnes in September 2021 to 23,700 tonnes in September 2022.
Table 1 presents analysis on month versus month and year-to-date comparisons of the current year and previous year's domestic milk intake.
Figure 1 shows up-to-date trends of monthly domestic milk intake for 2021 and 2022.

Statistician's Comment
The Central Statistics Office (CSO) has today (02 November 2022) published Milk Statistics for September 2022.
Commenting on the release, Dr Grzegorz Głaczyński, Statistician in the Agriculture Section of the CSO, said:
“The figures show an increase in domestic milk intake by creameries and pasteurisers of 1.1% in September 2022, when compared with the same month in 2021. Domestic milk intake decreased during the period January to September 2022 (-0.3%), compared with the same period in 2021."
