The Agri/Food sector was the largest exporter to the UK in 2017 with €3.7 billion of goods exported, or 23% of total UK exports. The Pharmaceutical, Other Manufacturing and Construction and Wholesale/Retail sectors recorded UK exports of €3.6 billion, €3.5 billion and €3.3 billion respectively. (see Table 2.1).
The Wholesale/Retail sector has the largest number of enterprises exporting to the UK, accounting for 44% of the total number of exporters. The number of exporters in the Agri/Food sector is 8% of the total.
Looking at the number of enterprises who export to the UK, the Wholesale/Retail sector dominates, accounting for 44% of the total number of exporters. In comparison, the number of exporters in the Agri/Food sector is 8% of the total.
