In 2019, one third (33%) of internet users said that they had Arranged accommodation from another private individual (such as a room, apartment, house, holiday cottage, etc.) via a dedicated website or app, such as AIRBNB, which was an increase of five percentage points on 2018. Just over one in ten internet users (11%) had Arranged accommodation from another private individual via other websites or apps (including social networks such as Facebook, etc.), compared with 10% in 2018. Almost two thirds (64%) had not Arranged accommodation online from another private individual in the previous twelve months, a decrease of 5 percentage points on 2018. See Table 6.1 and Figure 6.1.
Use of a dedicated website or app was also the preferred option for Arranging transport from another private individual, with 26% of internet users using a dedicated website or app (such as UBER, HAILO, etc.) in the previous twelve months. In comparison, just 5% of internet users had Arranged transport from another private individual via other websites or apps, while 72% had not Arranged a transport service online from another private individual in the last twelve months. See Table 6.1 and Figure 6.1.
Note that respondents may have arranged accommodation and/or transport from another private individual via both dedicated websites or apps and other websites or apps.

In 2019, 1.2% of internet users obtained work using an intermediary website or app. Examples include Upwork, TaskRabbit, Freelancer, Amazon, Mechanical Turk, etc. Websites of employment agencies are excluded. For 0.2% of individuals, this was their main source of income, while for 0.9%, it was an additional income source. See Table 6.2.
