In February 2025, seasonally adjusted trade exports in goods grew by €700.9 million (+2.8%) to €25.5 billion compared with January 2025, according to preliminary figures.
Unadjusted goods exports were €24.6 billion in February 2025, an increase of €8.7 billion (+54.3%) compared with February 2024.
Seasonally adjusted goods imports grew by €1.62 billion (+14.8%) to €12.6 billion when compared with January 2025.
Unadjusted goods imports rose by €1.5 billion (+14.6%) to €11.8 billion in February 2025 compared with February 2024.
Both imports and exports of Medical & Pharmaceutical Products rose for the second consecutive month in February 2025, with exports increasing by €9.2 billion (+146%) to €15.6 billion and imports rising by €922 million (+84.2%) to €2 billion compared with February 2024.
Exports of Medical & Pharmaceutical Products accounted for 63.2% (€15.6 billion) of total exports for the month and 17.2% of total imports (€2 billion).
Exports to the United States increased by €8.7 billion (+210.5%) in February 2025 compared with the same month last year, rising from €4.2 billion to €12.9 billion.
The most recent month’s data on External Trade in Goods figures are provisional and subject to revision. Revisions to the monthly series back data shall take place, if and as required, on foot of late survey returns, VAT returns and corrections made by traders. The data for the same month a year ago may be considered final – revisions would be applied only in exceptional circumstances. Revisions are applied also to the volume indices and to the seasonally adjusted data.

Seasonally adjusted goods exports increased by €700.9 million (+2.8%) to €25.5 billion in February compared with January 2025 (€24.8 billion), according to preliminary figures.
Seasonally adjusted goods imports increased by €1.6 billion (+14.8%) leading to a decrease of €923.8 million (-6.7%) in the seasonally adjusted trade surplus to €12.9 billion in February compared with January (€13.9 billion) (See Table 2).
Seasonal adjustment compares month-to-month data by removing fluctuations that may occur due to seasonal patterns in trade.
The (unadjusted) value of goods exports increased by €8.7 billion (+54.3%) to €24.6 billion in February 2025 compared with February 2024 (€15.9 billion).
The value of goods exports for the first 2 months of the year increased by €15.5 billion (+44.5%) to €50.4 billion, when compared with the same period of 2024 (€34.8 billion).
The (unadjusted) value of goods imports increased by €1.5 billion (+14.5%) to €11.8 billion in February 2025 compared with February 2024 (€10.3 billion).

In February 2025, Ireland’s top exporting partners were the US, the Netherlands and Germany, with Ireland exporting 52.5% (€12.9 billion), 7.7% (€1.9 billion) and 6.2% (€1.5 billion) of total export goods respectively to these countries.
Ireland imported the highest value of goods from the US, Germany, and Great Britain, with these countries representing 16.6 % (€2 billion), 12.8% (€1.5 billion) and 11.6% (€1.4 billion) of the total import trade respectively for February 2025.
Exports to the US increased by €8.7 billion (+210.5%) to €12.9 billion in February 2025 compared with February 2024 (€4.2 billion).
Ireland exported €11.7 billion of Chemicals & Related Products to the US. Chemicals & Related Products, which include Medical & Pharmaceutical Products, made up 91% of total exports to the US in February 2025.
Imports from the US increased by €304 million (+18.4%) to €2 billion in February 2025 compared with February 2024 (€1.7 billion).
The products which accounted for the largest share of imports from the US were Machinery & Transport Equipment at €836.41 million and Chemicals & Related Products at €680.98 million, representing 42.8% and 34.8% of total imports from the US in February 2025.
Exports to Great Britain increased by €1.4 million (+0.1%) to €1,195 million in February 2025 compared with February 2024 (€1,194 million).
The products which accounted for the largest share of exports were Food & Live Animals at €352.07 million, and Machinery & Transport Equipment at €252.38 million, representing 29.5% and 21.1% of total exports to Great Britain in February 2025.
Imports from Great Britain fell by €46.3 million (-3.3%) to €1.36 billion in February 2025 compared with February 2024 (€1.4 billion).
The products which accounted for the largest share of imports were Machinery & Transport Equipment at €289.05 million, and Mineral Fuels, Lubricants & Related Materials at €260.87 million, representing 21.3% and 19.2% of total imports from Great Britain in February 2025.

Exports of Medical & Pharmaceutical Products increased by €9.2 billion (+145.7%) to €15.6 billion in February 2025 compared with February 2024 (€6.3 billion). This represented 63.2% of total exports in February 2025.
Exports of Organic Chemicals decreased by €886 million (-39%) to €1.4 billion in February 2025 compared with February 2024 (€2.3 billion).
Exports of Office Machines & Automatic Data Processing Machines (including computers) increased by €160.9 million (+42.6%) to €539.1 million in February 2025 compared with February 2024 (€378.2 million) (See Table 3).
Imports of Medical & Pharmaceutical Products increased by €922 million (+84.2%) to €2 billion in February 2025 compared with February 2024 (€1.1 billion). This represented 17.2% of total imports in February 2025.
Imports of Organic Chemicals fell by €280.5 million (-24.7%) to €853.1 million in February 2025 compared with February 2024 (€1.1 billion).
Imports of Office Machines & Automatic Data Processing Machines (including computers) increased by €177.3 million (+34.7%) to €687.8 million in February 2025 compared with February 2024 (€510.4 million) (See Table 3).

Statistician's Comment
The Central Statistics Office (CSO) has today (15 April 2025) published Goods Exports and Imports February 2025.
Commenting on the release Jane Burmanje, Statistician in the International Trade in Goods Division said: “Irish exports grew by €8.7 billion (+54.3%) in February 2025 compared with the same month last year, with unadjusted goods exports valued at €24.6 billion.
Exports of Medical & Pharmaceutical Products made up almost two-thirds of this value at €15.5 billion (63.2%). Unadjusted imports of goods also rose by €1.5 billion (+14.6%) to €11.75 billion in February 2025.
Exports to the US increased by 210.5% (€8.7 billion) in February 2025 compared with the same month last year, rising from €4.2 billion to €12.9 billion. Exports to the US accounted for 52.5% of total export trade in February 2025 while they accounted for 26.1% of total exports in the same month last year.
When seasonally adjusted, exports of goods reached €25.5 billion in February 2025 while seasonally adjusted imports of goods were €12.6 billion.”
