Statistician's Comment
The Central Statistics Office (CSO) has today (24 January 2024) released Fuel Oil Movements for 2022.
Commenting on the release Kevin Hunt, Statistician in the Environment and Climate Division, said: "This release is based on returns by mineral oil fuel traders to the Revenue Commissioners in 2022. The release shows the final movements of fuel oil in 2022. Movements have been broken down by fuel oil type (autodiesel, unleaded petrol, marked gas oil, and kerosene) and movement type (forecourt and non-forecourt). County level movement data is also provided.
Road Transport Fuel Oil Final Movements
Road transport fuel oils (autodiesel and unleaded petrol) are largely sold through forecourts (See Figure 1). In 2022, 76% of autodiesel sales were made in forecourts, an increase from 74% in 2021 and 75% in 2020 (See Table 1A). For unleaded petrol, 97% of sales were sold in forecourts, the same proportion as in 2021 and 2020 (See Table 1B)".
