• In 2022, there were 1,109,557 people who experienced a long-lasting condition or difficulty to any extent, accounting for 22% of the population.

• Of these, 407,342 (8% of the population) experienced a long-lasting condition or difficulty to a great extent or a lot.

• A further 702,215 (14% of the population) experienced a long-lasting condition or difficulty to some extent or a little.

• In 2022, 83% of the population reported their health as very good or good, down 4% from 2016.

• At 76%, Dublin City was the county with the lowest proportion of people reporting very good or good health (449,248 people).

• At 88%, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown was the county with the highest proportion of people reporting very good or good health (206,240 people).

• In 2022, there were 86,972 unpaid carers providing 43 or more hours of unpaid help per week (29% of all unpaid carers).

• In 2016, there were 41,185 unpaid carers providing 43 or more hours of unpaid help per week (21% of all unpaid carers).
