Of the 36 countries, the most expensive country for Food was Switzerland, with prices on average 69% above the EU27 average. Luxembourg was the most expensive country for Food in the EU and Eurozone.
Of the 36 countries, Ireland was the 6th most expensive for Food and 2nd most expensive of the Eurozone countries.
Table 5.1 shows the summary results, while Figure 5.1 shows the detailed results for the 36 countries.
The results for the main Food sub-categories, in the next few chapters, show that, of the 36 countries, Ireland was the 8th most expensive country for Bread and Cereals, 11th most expensive for Meat, joint 18th most expensive for Fish, 8th most expensive for Milk, Cheese, and Eggs, 11th most expensive for Oils and Fats and joint 9th most expensive for Fruits, Vegetables, and Potatoes.
In the Eurozone, Ireland was the 3rd most expensive country for Bread and Cereals, 7th most expensive for Meat, joint 12th most expensive for Fish, 5th most expensive for Milk, Cheese, and Eggs, 5th most expensive for Oils and Fats and the joint 4th most expensive country for Fruits, Vegetables, and Potatoes.
