For the overall category Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages Norway was the most expensive country, with prices on average 63% above the EU28 average, while North Macedonia was the least expensive, 38% below the EU28 average. Irish prices were 20% above the EU28 average and roughly 13% above the Eurozone 19 (106) average.


Denmark was the most expensive country within the European Union while Austria and Luxembourg were the most expensive within the Eurozone. Romania was the least expensive of the European Union countries while Lithuania was the least expensive within the Eurozone.


Of the 37 countries Ireland was the joint, along with Finland, 7th most expensive for Food and Non-alcoholic Beverages. Of the European Union countries Ireland and Finland were the 4th most expensive while Ireland along with Finland were the 3rd most expensive of the Eurozone countries.


Table 2.1 below shows the summary results while Figure 2.1 shows the detailed results for the 37 countries.
