Statistical Classifications commonly used in the CSO

The CSO avails of a range of well-established standard national and international classifications in the compilation of high-quality statistical data. The production of nationally and internationally comparable statistics is achieved by maximising the use of uniform statistical definitions and classifications. Details of many of the statistical classifications that are routinely used by the CSO are available here.

The CSO is currently developing a range of data standards, which will incorporate standardised classifications. Initially, these data standards are focused on concepts related to social and demographic statistics. For further information on the available data standards and associated classifications see above.
