Over 77% of Irish product sales are classified in the following four NACE classes

• Manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and preparations
• Manufacture of food products
• Manufacture of computer, electronic, optical and electrical equipment
• Manufacture of chemicals and chemical products

PRODCOM is the European Union’s standard classification of production statistics. It contains over 3,900 products, of which approximately 42% are produced and/or sold by Irish industrial enterprises. Its scope relates to the NACE activity codes from 07 to 33.

The business activity classifications used in this Statistical release are based on the Statistical Classification of Economic Activities in the European Community i.e. NACE Rev. 2.
