Foreign owned enterprises account for nearly 80% of manufacturing turnover in 2009
The detailed Census of Industrial Production 2009 released by the Central Statistics Office today reveals that foreign owned enterprises with three or more persons engaged, employed 83,704 persons, had a turnover of €79,325m and gross value added of €24,858m. Foreign owned enterprises accounted for just under 10% of all enterprises surveyed and nearly 80% of the manufacturing turnover during 2009.
Irish owned enterprises employed 90,511 persons, had a turnover of €21,138m and gross value added of €4,759m in 2009.
