Function of Liaison Group

The Group will function as a discussion forum on matters related to Macro Economic Statistics, and to assist with understanding of existing or planned methodological changes.

The areas in scope are broadly National Accounts, Financial Accounts, Government Finance Statistics, Trade, International Accounts and Price Statistics.

Terms of Reference

  • Group will meet three times yearly – in March; shortly after the Annual National Accounts release; and in December.
  • Up to two representatives per institution reflecting sectoral experience – the representatives can rotate depending on the subjects for discussion at any given meeting.
  • The Group will function as a discussion forum on matters related to Macro Economic Statistics, and assist with the understanding of existing or planned methodological changes.
  • The first meeting each year will include planned statistical changes for that year.
  • The CSO members on the group will discuss issues raised. However, the CSO context of limited resources and statistical constraints must be taken into account.
  • Confidentiality of discussions must be respected at all times.
  • CSO subject-matter experts will be invited to attend the meetings that involve their area of expertise or interest.
  • Agenda items for discussion can be proposed at a meeting for discussion at a future meeting or proposed in writing to the Group Secretary.
