Minutes of the 5th Department of Health / CSO Health Data Liaison Group (HDLG)

Meeting on 26^th June 2023 @ 14:30 - 16:45

Attendance:

Overall, 72 people attended the 5^th HDLG meeting which was held as a hybrid meeting in Ardee Road and on Microsoft Teams on 26^th June 2023. A full list of those in attendance can be found at the end of this document.

• Paul opened the meeting and welcomed members to this HDLG meeting.
• Muiris introduced the second half of the HDLG meeting.

Item 1

Health Information Bill 2022 update

Sarah (Department of Health) provided the Group with an update on the Health Information Bill and its progress though the Legislative process including timelines and external dependencies. 

Item 2

HSE Health Regions

Andrew and Libby (Department of Health) discussed both the background to the project, policy development and work from the data side (demo) of the new HSE health regions.

Steven (CSO) discussed the added value CSO can bring to describing the new HSE health regions by linking to other admin data sources.

Item 3

National Health Intelligence Unit (HIU) HSE and Health Mapping

Howard Johnson gave an in-depth and presentation of the work currently happening in the HIU. 

Item 4

Health System Performance Assessment (HSPA) Platform

Nikita and Neasain presented a demo of the new HSPA platform and went through some of the indicators and lay-out of site. The Group congratulated the team on the new platform. 

Item 5

National Cancer Registry Ireland (NCRI)

Paul Walsh (NCRI) described the work of the NCRI, the data sources they use and work they carry out on cancer incidence / mortality / survival and referenced work on life tables. It was noted that there is a need for regional life tables data for analysis purposes.
