Introduction

Establishing good corporate governance is central to the effective operation of any organisation. Corporate governance is vitally important in outlining how the CSO effectively discharges its statutory obligations and continues in its mission - to provide high quality information for evidenced based decision-making and support accountability.
The 2014 Civil Service Renewal Plan set out arrangements for governance and accountability in the Civil Service. A key action targeted enhanced governance arrangements in line with international best practice and introduced a common governance standard. The Civil Service Renewal 2030 Strategy continues that standard – with a commitment to strong governance across the civil service.
The CSO now publishes its updated Corporate Governance Framework. This framework summarises how we uphold our statutory obligations and demonstrates how the CSO makes decisions, implements policies and delivers on its mandate, its mission and its functions.
