  • This table shows the number of persons arrested in the Dublin Metropolitan Police District in connection with the Easter Rising, and how they were dealt with.
  • Of the 1,784 people who were arrested during the Easter Rising by the police in Dublin, 76 were females.
  • 88 people, including 1 woman, were tried by court martial with 14 men executed and 72 men and 1 woman imprisoned.
  • Of those arrested but not tried by court martial, 947 were interned, including 3 women.

  • The number of licensed vehicles  (i.e., hackneys) under the control of the Dublin Police  in 1915 and 1916 shows an interesting trend away from cabriolets and phaetons, which were light horse drawn vehicles.
  • The number of cabriolets decreased from 529 to 465 between 1915 and 1916 while the number of phaetons dropped from 21 to 12.
  • In contrast, the number of motorised vehicles (motor job carriages) used as hackneys increased from 121 to 132.
