The following Table contains descriptions by category of each Product Group that contributes to the Table 3 Detailed Wholesale Price Indices (excluding VAT) for Building & Construction Materials.

Following a review of construction materials categories, the following changes have been made:

The subcategories Precast Concrete and Other Concrete Products (excluding precast concrete) will no longer be maintained from February 2023. The higher-level category Other Concrete Products Including Precast includes products from both these subcategories and this index can be used as an approximation to the obsolete subcategories.

The following categories have been renamed:  Rough Timber (including plain sawn) Other is now Softwood, Other timber is now Machined, Treated Engineered Timber and Other timber Other is now Other treated timber.
