Road traffic volumes

In 2013, Irish licensed vehicles travelled a total of 41.8 billion kilometres. Each vehicle travelled, on average, 16,949 kilometres in 2013.
Private cars accounted for 78% of the total number of licensed vehicles and 77% of the total distance travelled in 2013. On average, each private car travelled 16,736 kilometres in 2013.
Private cars belonging to residents of County Leitrim were driven further on average than private cars of residents of any other county in 2013.
