In 2020, Gross Value Added (GVA) for Industrial enterprises increased by 12.0% to €128.4 billion when measured at factor cost. Turnover in the Industrial sector increased by 4.0% to €299.2 billion in 2020.

The number of persons engaged in Industrial SMEs decreased by 3.9%, to 128,520, in 2020. In contrast, Large Industrial enterprises recorded an increase of 1.1% to 132,140 persons engaged.

The rate of increase in GVA in 2020 was greater for Large Industrial enterprises (13.0%) than for SMEs (5.4%). Large enterprises accounted for 87.8% of all GVA for Industrial enterprises.
