Road Freight Transport Survey

Survey purpose:

The survey results show the amount of work done, goods carried, empty running etc by Irish registered goods vehicles and give quarterly information on the scale and development of carriage of goods by road.

Statistical Population:

Irish registered goods vehicles with an unladen weight of 2,000kgs and over

Sampling Frame:

Register of all vehicles taxed as goods vehicles with an unladen weight of 2 tonnes and over maintained in Transport section and updated every 8 weeks with goods vehicle file received from VRU.

Reference Area:

Road freight activity undertaken by Irish registered goods vehicles on national and international road networks.

Approximately 25,000 Irish registered goods vehicles with an unladen weight of 2 tonnes and over sampled p.a.
