There was a total of 2,570,294 vehicles under current licence in 2015, of which 1,985,130 (77.2%) were private cars.
Of the 1,985,130 private cars under licence, 121,110 were new cars licensed for the first time in 2015.
Almost half (49.4%) of new private cars licensed for the first time in 2015 had an engine capacity of between 1501 and 2000cc, while 95.3% were in either the A or B CO₂ emission bands.
